A downloadable game

Download NowName your own price

An all-new port of the famous arcade game for the Amstrad CPC range of 8 bit computers. Works on any CPC with a disk drive or mass storage device and at least 128k of memory, or with the emulator of your choice, such as ACE-DLRetro Virtual Machine or WinApe.

Featuring:

  • Faithful recreation of the arcade game (more or less)
  • 50hz gameplay (mostly)
  • Much abuse of the CPC's 4 colour screen mode
  • 4 difficulty settings
  • High score saving
  • New game modes
  • New backgrounds
  • New level layouts
  • Level randomiser
  • Achievements (trophies)
  • Built-in cheats

In short, it's everything you could want from a remake of Bomb Jack for an old British microcomputer from the 1980s, and possibly more!

Included in download:

  • Disk image in .dsk format for use with emulators, USB floppy emulator such as Gotek, or to transfer to a real 3" disk if you are hardcore.
  • Direct file version for use with mass storage devices such as the M4.
  • PDF manual.
  • Hours of fun, hopefully.

Check out my other work at Claymatic Games.

Update #1 - I made a small change that should hopefully fix compatibility with the original CPC464
Update #2 - fixed a typo in the credits - apologies Tsuruta-san

I could not believe it was mode1. My best CPC game so far! Thank you for this incredible piece of dev.  It would have been such a blast back then...

Great game, thanks.

Brilliant game, such a great version.  This is my tribute...

Good job.

Amazing. The visual style you chose is a masterpiece in its own. Thank you for such a feat!
Just two minor things about the credits:
- it's MICHITAKA, not MICHIKATA - typo!
- The 2D artist was Rie YATOMI at the time. Later on she married Michishito Ishizuka, but at the time she was nubile.
Source: I interviewed Tsuruta 20 years ago and the MAME history dat info comes from there.
